Privacy Policy
Spex is a Chrome extension that provides keyboard controls and on-screen KeyTips in Google Sheets. This policy explains what Spex accesses, what it stores on your device, and whether any data is transmitted externally.
1. Scope
This policy applies to the Spex Chrome extension and the Spex public website. Data handling by Google Sheets itself is governed by Google's own terms and privacy policies.
2. Information Spex accesses
To provide keyboard actions requested by the user, Spex observes and interacts with the Google Sheets page UI, DOM, and state required for those actions. Host access is limited to Google Sheets spreadsheet URLs.
Spex does not provide AI analysis of spreadsheet contents.
3. Information stored on your device
Spex stores settings such as KeyTips, Toast, keymap, theme, and language; onboarding progress; and limited Spex operational, warning, and error diagnostics in Chrome extension local storage.
Diagnostics do not store spreadsheet URLs, cell values, formulas, or selection contents.
4. External transmission and telemetry
Spex has no backend server that receives extension usage data or diagnostic data. Spex does not implement telemetry or analytics.
Spex diagnostics are stored locally to help diagnose Spex operations and errors and are not automatically sent to the developer.
5. Advertising, sale, and third-party sharing
Spex does not use extension data for personalized advertising and does not sell user data. Because Spex has no backend server collecting usage data, there is no Spex pipeline that shares such usage data with third parties.
6. Retention and deletion
Locally stored settings, onboarding state, and diagnostics remain as Chrome extension data on the device. You can remove Spex's locally stored data by deleting the extension's data through Chrome.
7. Chrome Web Store User Data Policy
Spex's use of user data follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including applicable Limited Use requirements.
8. Changes to this policy
If a future release adds analytics, telemetry, cloud services, or another form of external data transfer, this policy and the Chrome Web Store disclosures will be updated before that functionality is released.
